What does the part number say in an alternator, becouse there is the voltage writing and we can see the pulley if its same, why there is a part number any other specification?

The part number consists of 3 sections:
Prefix: 3M5T describes Model Year and vehicle line, in this case 2003 Focus / C-Max
Base Part Numer: 10300 for alternator
Suffix: Y for design and C for design level. A 3M5T-1300-YC may be replaced with 3M5T-1300-YD or YE, as long as it is still the Y_-design.

Any Ford dealer can look up the matching part numbers and confirm the spare part levels replacing a 3M5T-10300-Y_ part. Since the electronical architecture for Focus / C-Max got significantly revised for Model Year 2008 I'm afraid a 8M5T alternator (Model Year 2008) may not fit to a Model Year 2003 vehicle.

Thank you very much for your super explonation,i didn't know all these things :) nice to learn them.My car model is a 2006 year,so maby first owner had changed the alternator too.I bought this one fited it and no problem fiting it,it was same in look and same size. The car started and worked fine .The only reasson why i am making this post is becouse i had my doubts, and many problems ocured a week after i changed my alternator,i got to limp mode and i coudnt start my car.I put the OBDII reader and there were 15 DTC,i deleted them and car started and worked fine. Now after some time i am having Limp mode again. So i was guessing if my new alternator did all this..but 8M5T has a Y style too, wont fit in what meaning? what do you think?

The design family is only the same with the same prefix, i.e. a 8M5T-Y_ part could be completely different to a 3M5T-Y_.

The model year in the prefix indicates the build start of the model, not the build date of the actual vehicle, i.e. 3M5T-Y_ was used until the facelift in 2008, then replaced by 8M5T part level. Although both alternators provide 150 A, may have the same external appearance and fit the same mating connector they may be different in some respect. They also reflect different Denso part numbers on the housing label. There were quite some significant revisions to the electronic architecture with the 2008 facelift.

It appears that a mismatch between alternator and PCM is causing according DTC's on each drive cycle, triggering the limp home mode after a certain number of DTC entries. Deleting the DTC's does not remove the root cause. You need to find out what the DTC's mean. It is only too likely that the 8M5T alternator is not compatible to your 2003 Model Year PCM, although the connectors fit and both models have smart charge.

This alternator 3M5T-10300-Y_ was used throughout the cycle time of the MY 2003 Focus from 2003-2008 until it got replaced with the new part 8M5T for the MY 2008 facelift. Part number prefixes are not related to the actual build date, but to the model generation.

The label on the alternator shows Ford part number, Volvo part number (30667068), Denso part number (104210-3522), manufacturing date code and Volvo barcode.

The service part for your vehicle may still be 3M5T-10300-YC or it may have been replaced by 3M5T-10300-YD, -YE or yet another part. Spare parts are quite often commonised in order to limit the logistics complexity. Any Ford dealer can look up the applicable service parts in Ecat. Any part within this replacement chain is fine, any others are not.

If the 8M5T-10300-YA is not amongst the replacement numbers for your vehicle than it is not suitable. If it would fit your model then it would probably be used in service commonly with the facelift models rather than needlessly continuing old part levels for service.

You need to find out what the DTC's mean and whether these are related to the charging system. It is fair to conclude that the new alternator may cause the PCM to set a DTC on each drice cycle, because it may not match the vehicle setup. There are numerous reasons why it wouldn't match.

You may want to ask your Ford dealer first, since there probably are other suitable part levels as well, i.e. 3M5T-10300-YD (this part does exist and can be used) and the related 7-digit spare part order number (FINIS), enlarging the choice of suitable spare parts to look for. 3M5T-10300-YC may no longer be available as new part.

The Ford dealer can also confirm whether the DTC's are related to the charging system at all and whether 8M5T-10300-YA really is not suitable. The DTC's could be related to any other error state independently from the charging system, although it is not very likely.
If you want to know the usages for 8M5T-10300-YA you may need to look up the internet portals of spare part dealers and search for 2008 Kuga / Focus / C-Max 2.0 TDCI. Some portals reference the original part number and / or the 7-digit spare part order number (FINIS). I would start with Kuga, since the part was plant fit on this model. The Ford dealer may not be able to perform an inverse search, i.e. look up usages by part number.

You may want to do the same for the corresponding Volvo part number shown on the 8M5T part, i.e. 31285593.
